Senior Pastor James A. White

Senior Pastor

Pastor James White, has served as the Senior Pastor of Christ Our King Community Church since its inception. He is a gifted expository Bible teacher, speaker, historian, thought leader, writer and community advocate. He is originally from Barco, NC and a graduate of East Carolina University. After graduation, he joined the full-time staff of Cru, formally known as Campus Crusade for Christ. Through his ministry, life and leadership God has truly expanded his territory as a grace-filled leader. As a market-place leader, he currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Organizational Relations for the YMCA of the Triangle Area. In addition, he is also an Adjunct Professor at Southeastern Seminary where he teaches a class on Social Justice and Race. He is a highly sought out consultant, speaker and facilitator for several organizations and companies on issues relating to inclusion, equity and diversity.

As a community leader, he serves on several boards including the Martin Luther King Committee of the Triangle, NC Museum of Natural Sciences, chairs the NC Dr. Martin Luther King Commission where he was appointed by the Governor Cooper. And he is a Senior Fellow/Scholar for the Sagamore Institute. He has served as chapel speaker for over 10 NFL teams, including the Pro Bowl in Honolulu Hawaii, spoken at numerous of college campuses, retreats, churches and conference speaker. He has written several published articles and co-authored several books. He and His wife, First Lady Cynthia White, have been married over 33 years and they are the parents of three young adult children.

First Lady Cynthia White

Programming  / Women's Ministries Leader

First Lady Cynthia White serves and leads the Programming Team and Soul Sisters, the women’s ministry of COKCC. She has been married to Pastor James White for over 33 years. Collectively they have been in ministry for the entire married life. Formally before starting COKCC, they served on the ministry of Cru (formally named Campus Crusade for Christ) as missionaries to college students at Howard University in Washington, DC. There are the parents of three adult children.
 
She is a native of Hampton, VA, and a graduate of Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, VA.  Also, she is an entrepreneur, speaker, coach, mentor, and published author of a 31-Day devotional. She is a former part-time Adjunct Instructor of Wake Technical College, served on the board of a local Non-Profit, and volunteers with NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) of Wake County. First Lady Cynthia is a lover of tea, fresh flowers, gardening, crafting, hospitality, cooking, decorating, and all things animal print.

Elder Colin Adams

Governance: Small Groups / A/V / Security / Social Ministries

Elder Colin Adams, helps shepherd the body through preaching, teaching, and counseling. Colin was born and raised in Toledo, OH and is married to his college sweetheart, Shaunte; with whom he co-leads the small group ministry. They have a twin son and daughter who keep them very busy. In his full-time career, Colin teaches psychology at a local university.

Elder Gary Jones

Governance: Finance / Financial Peace / Benevolence / Missions / Facilities Ministries

Elder Gary shepherds and serves through his leadership over the finance team. He has been a faithful member of COKCC almost since its inception. He is from Shallote, NC and a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University where he began actively growing in his relationship with Christ. His leadership development continued as he served in the North Carolina National Guard for 9 years. Before leaving his tour of duty, he proudly earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. As a business owner and former Board Member of the Ingram Family YMCA he has a passion for entrepreneurship. He also enjoys spending time with his family, with youth and playing basketball. He and his wife Imelda are the parents of 2 children.

Elder James McLean

Governance: Discipleship / Couples / Men’s /Women's Ministries

Elder James shepherds and serves through his leadership of the discipleship endeavors of the church. He and his family became members of COKCC in 2004. Since his membership he provided leadership in several ministries of the church. He and his wife Beth of 34 years are parents of 3 young adult children. Together they lead and oversee the Marriage Ministry.

John Wright

Minister of Music

John Wright is a diversely talented musician and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. John has been leading worship for more than 20 years and serves as the Minister of Music at COKCC. The son of two pastors, John is originally from Windsor, Connecticut where he cultivated a love for music from an early age and plays the keyboard, piano and drums. As a high-energy praise and worship leader, he leads the worship team and church in dynamic worship by selecting biblically based songs to support the sermons of Pastor James White and the other ministers on the teaching team. John attended St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Additionally, he leads a community-based praise and worship team, He and his wife Katoya are the parents of 3 children.

Minister Rodney Alexander

Children's Church Minister

Minister Rodney serves and shepherds the children, teachers and parents as a grace-filled leader of the Children’s Ministry at COKCC. He leverages his expertise working with youth of all ages as a former employee of the several YMCA branches in Raleigh, NC. His experience has come full circle as he and his wife and college sweetheart, LyTonya, are raising their two daughters. He received his undergraduate degree at UNC Chapel Hill. He also received a Masters of Arts in Ministry with Concentration in International Biblical Community Development from John Brown University along with certifications from other Universities. Along with his ministry within the church, Rodney is a Missionary and Vice President Board of Directors with Kefa Project, based in Rwanda.

Lisa Akins

Children's Church Assistant

Lisa  provides leadership by serving and supporting as the Administrator of the Children’s Ministry at Christ Our King Community Church. She brings extensive experience in working in Youth Ministry over18 years here at COKCC and her previous church. She sparks moments of grace by teaching and inspiring kids to tap into their creativity while learning about Jesus. As a former home-schooling mom, she and her husband, Micah are the parents two daughters.

Robyn Ashe

Church Administrator

Robyn's leadership is experienced through the role of Church Administrator, teacher in the Children’s Ministry and Small Group Leader. She has been a member of Christ Our King Community Church since 2016. She is also a  teacher who holds several degrees from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC and North Carolina Central University, in Durham, NC.  Robyn is a content introvert and homebody who likes to travel as often as she can.
